Swimming beaches

There are three public swimming beaches in the centre of Mäntyharju: at the end of the Haapaseläntie road, at Kurkiniemi and at Pekkolanlampi. There is also a small swimming beach at Pitkäjärvi along the Mäntyharju-Repovesi trails. Public swimming beaches are marked on the Mäntyharju local and outdoor maps that can be picked up from Tourist Information.

haapaseläntien uimaranta


The Haapaselkä swimming beach is situated at the northern end of the Haapaseläntie road. The beach is shallow and sandy, making it suitable also for children. There is a jetty for experienced swimmers, and there are also changing huts, a small playground and carpet washing facilities. The beach is situated 1.5 kilometres from the centre of town. You can also get to the Haapaseläntie road from the centre along the pretty Rantareitti shoreline path.

Uimarannat Kurkiniemi


There is a small swimming beach by the Kurkiniemi summer restaurant right in the centre of Mäntyharju. The beach is situated just 100 metres from the train station and 400 metres from the roundabout. There is also a lakeside sauna that can be rented, as well as a beach volleyball court.


Uimarannat Pitkajarvi


The Pitkäjärvi lake is situated along the Mäntyharju-Repovesi hiking trail, and you can also get there along the mountain bike trail. The lean-to by the beach is 400 metres off the trail and is marked on both trails. The beach is situated 12 kilometres from Mäntyharju. In addition to the lean-to, environmental art can also be found by the beach. The lake is popular for fishing with a worm and hook. There is also a small jetty.
