Lean-tos for families

There are many lean-tos not far from the centre of Mäntyharju that are ideal destinations for family daytrips. The lean-tos do not have exact addresses, but they are all marked clearly on the Mäntyharju outdoor map. The map can be purchased from Mäntyharju Tourist office and R-kiosk at the price for 10 euros/each. 

Nuotioniemi lean-to

You can get to this lean-to by following the Pappilanniemi trail from the Iso-Pappila Open-Air Museum. In wintertime you can also get to the lean-to across the ice. The distance from the centre of Mäntyharju is 3.7 kilometres.

Taina lean-to

To get to this lean-to, follow the small path from the Varpasentie road. The distance along the path is just 400 metres, making it suitable for even smaller children. The distance from the centre of Mäntyharju is 7 kilometres.

Ruokohiekka lean-to

This lean-to is situated beside Lake Pyhävesi at the end of the Ruokoniementie road. This campfire site is suitable for strollers and wheelchairs, and you can get to it by car. The lean-to is also along the Mäntyharju-Repovesi paddling route, but there is no jetty. In wintertime you can also get to the lean-to across the ice. The distance from the centre of Mäntyharju is 7 kilometres.

Pyhäkoski lean-to

This lean-to was built by local fishermen at Pyhäkoski. The lean-to is fully accessible for strollers and wheelchairs, and you can get to it by car (you can see the lean-to from the Vihantasalmentie road). The distance from the centre of Mäntyharju along the road is 10.5 kilometres. You can also get to the lean-to by following the Pyhäkoski trail.

This lean-to was built in the forest on an old crofter's land. The lean-to is situated along the Mäntyharju-Repovesi hiking trail. In wintertime you can also ski to the lean-to along cross-country ski trails. Info boards for the nature trail are also being added. The distance from the Kisala Sports Hall along the hiking trail is 3.5 kilometres.
